Circadian rhythm is referred to as the “body clock”. It is a cycle that tells our bodies when to sleep, eat, and rise.

  1. Having a consistent bedtime is the first place to start.
  2. Think about the activities your family performs throughout the day. Be cognizant that early morning and afternoon are times to do more running and jumping that increase alertness and arousal level.
  3. Avoid stimulating activities closer to bed. Limit screen-time before bed and distractions in your child’s rooms. Make sure toys are not readily available after getting into bed.
  4. Start by dimming lights later in the evening.
  5. Keep your bedtime routine as simple as possible.
